義理堅い？
Simon Solomon was at the funeral of a good friend
when one of the mourners remembered he owed the deceased $100.
"I am a man of his word," he said,
putting ten $10 notes in the coffin.
シモン・ソロモンが友人の葬儀に参列していた際に、
会葬者の一人が故人に$100借りていたことを思い出し、
"私は約束は守る男だ。"と言いながら10枚の$10札を棺の上に置きました。
This reminded another of the moueners.
"I am also a man of my word," he said,
coming forward and placing a $100 note in the coffin.
これにより、またひとりの会葬者が思い出し、
「私も約束を守る男だ。」と棺に$100札を置きました。
"I am also a man of conscience," said Simon.
"I too owe our late friend $100."
So he wrote a cheque for $300,
put it in the coffin and took out the $200 change.
「私も良識のある人間だ。私も個人には$100借りていた。」
とサイモンは言い、$300の小切手を書き、
それを棺に置くと$200のお釣りを取りました。
